DEATHS
John F. Picht
Funeral services were held for John F. Picht of Nevada at the Memorial Lutheran Church September 13, at 11 A.M. Pastor Harry Myklebust officiated with Pastor Wayne Hanson assisting. Richard Lingwall was at the organ an Mrs. Clifford Picht was soloist.
Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery.
John F. Picht was born on a farm near Fernald in Story County December 18, 1894 to John and Clara Picht. He farmed all his life until he retired in 1963. On January 1, 1918 he was united in marriage to Beulah Hilburn and to this union two children were born.
He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fernald and was a lifelong member of that congregation until its merger with Memorial Lutheran Church of Nevada.
The last seven years he was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and served on various committees. He acted as chairman of the History Committee, served on the Every Members Response, Finance and Stewardship and worked with the Evangelism Committee.
Mr. Picht died at Mary Greeley hospital Monday morning September 10 at the age of 78 after being ill for the past year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Ethel Newhouse, and one brother Andrew.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah, one daughter, Pearl, at home and a son, John C. Picht, of near Plymouth; also four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hattie McColley of Fernald; and four brothers, Ernest of Fernald, Howard of Waverly, Jess of Lake City, and Roy of Nevada, and a host of other loved ones and friends.
