THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, July17, 1941, page 1, column 5. "ROBERT OXLEY, 24, DROWNS IN WISCONSIN LAKE - The second casualty from drowning occurred in the Maxwell community Monday afternoon when Robert Oxley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Oxley, was drowned near Siren, in Burdette county, in northern Wisconsin. When casting Robert dropped his fishing pole and reel and being a strong swimmer, dived into the lake after it. The presumption is that the extreme cold water caused cramps making it impossible to return to shore. The body was later rescued and Cooper's ambulance left immediately for Siren and the body will be returned to Maxwell for burial."
