THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, March 2, 1910, page 1. "MRS. D. G. MERRIHEW - Mention was made in last week's Tribune, of the death of Mrs. D. G. Merrihew, Sunday morning, February 20th, at her home in Cadillac, Michigan, Mrs. Merrihew, who at the time of her death was nearly eighty years of age, **was one of the early settlers in this locality, coming here in an early day, and remaining husband in an early day, and remain in this vicinity until the spring of 1892 when they moved to Kansas. After a short stay there they went to Cadillac, which place remained her home until her death. About four years ago she suffered a paralytic stoke. The second stoke came about a year and a half ago, and her death was caused by a third stoke which left her entirely helpless. For over a week she was unconscious and unable to partake of nourishment, death finally coming as a ministering angel. She is survived by her aged husband who accompanied the remains here for burial. A daughter, Mina Stowe, who passed away several years ago, was interred at the Peoria cemetery, and it was there the body of Mrs. Merrihew was laid to rest, Wednesday afternoon, February 23d, no funeral service being conducted here. The deceased was a lifetime member of the Methodist church, trying always to live a true Christian life, doing her part to smooth the pathway of life for those who found the way rugged and full of hardships. Mr. Merrihew remained here for few days visiting with old acquaintances, and left yesterday for his home. He has the deep sympathy of many friend here during his hour of darkness and sorrow." **Editorial note, typed exactly as original newspaper article.
