In 1856 they locating in Johnson county, Iowa, leaving there in 1867 and locating a few miles south of Maxwell, where they, with strong bodies and willing minds, converted the virgin soil into a most beautiful home where they lived and prospered forty-four years. Mother Meyers was a member of the Brethren church for nearly fifty years and was one of those quiet, unassuming women, attending to her affairs at home, being highly respected by all who knew her. She was always willing to do a kindly act and in many a home she ministered to the wants of those in pain and suffering. She leaves to mourn her departure eleven children, thirty-four grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and many neighbors and friends.
