ROY ELLIOTT

HUXLEY--Roy Elliott, son of Mary and Reuben Elliott, was born in the White Oak Community July 16, 1878 and died Aug. 31, 1958 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 80 years, one month and 15 days.

He was a member of the United Brethren church in White Oak.

On May 31, 1904 he was united in marriage to Nellie Ryen. To this union one son was born.

He was in the restaurant business for 25 years in Huxley. Later started the service station and along with his son has been with the Shell Oil Co. for almost 30 years. He continued active in the service station business until a month before he died. He showed signs of failing health the last six months. He had a heart attack on Aug. 6. He entered the hospital and remained there most the time until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie, one son, Orval, one granddaughter, Barbara, relatives and a host of friends.

Services

A prayer service conducted by Pastor Clyde E. Brueland was held at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater at 1:15 p. m. Sept. 3. Mrs. Selmer Westvold sang "Lord Hold My Hand."

Funeral services were held at the Nazareth Lutheran church in Cambridge at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. Clyde Brueland officiating. Richard Sydnes, Jr. sand "Beyond the Sunset" and "One Sweetly Solemn Thought."

Burial was in the Palestine cemetery. The pallbearers were Lester Ryen, Raymond Ryen, Milford Ryen, Elwoood Ryen, Walter Olson and Ernest Fjelland.
