THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, October 17, 1901, page 1, column 1. "Iowa Center - H. O. Ayers and family and Mrs. Aubaugh, of Nevada, attended the funeral of the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. M. Matison on Sunday." "On last Friday evening at half past nine o'clock, Virgil Laverneon, infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Matison, died after three weeks of much suffering. The funeral was held at the U. E. church at Iowa Center. Rev. Urbino conducting the services. There was a very large attendance not withstanding the inclemency of the weather."
