NEWSPAPER SOURCE AND DATE UNKNOWN - Services Held For Mrs. Geo. McCleary - Anna E. Tomlinson McCleary, daughter of Thomas and Jane Tomlinson, was born March 5, 1879, near Kellogg, Iowa, and passed away at home in Mitchellville on her seventy-second birthday, March 5, 1951. She moved with her parents at the age of 13 years to a farm near Mitchellville and it was in this community she spent her life. On November 24, 1899, she was united in marriage to George McCleary and to this union five children were born, two daughters, Opal and Dorothy and one son Carroll. One child in infancy and another child, Vivian at the age of nine preceded their mother in death. Mrs. McCleary gave unselfishly of herself to her family, church and community. She took an active part in the Women's Group and in the choir of the Christian Church of which she was a member for over fifty years. Her noble traits were hospitality, friendship and loyal service to her neighbors and friends. She was a great lover of flowers and took a great deal of interest in this hobby. She and Mr. McCleary celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary about two years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband George; her daughters, Mrs. Opal Fraker and Dorothy McCleary of Mitchellville and her son, Carroll of Des Moines; four grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Tomlinson of Mitchellville; and George Tomlinson of Bondurant; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Eleanor Sherman of Colfax; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at the Christian Church, conducted by the minister, Rev. J. L. McCurdy. Music was furnished by Mrs. J. J. Stiffler and Mrs. W. R. Reynolds, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. George McNell. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. G. E. Pearson and Mrs. Tom Boothroy. The pallbearers were Tom Boothroy, Vinton Ward, G. E. Pearson, Wayne Taylor, H. W. Stevenson and r. W. Stevenson. She was laid to rest in the Mitchellville cemetery. CARD OF THANKS - We wish to thank our relatives, neighbors, and friends for the beautiful flowers and for the kind acts and thoughtful words which were so helpful to us in our bereavement. For all these we are deeply appreciative. - George McCleary, Dorothy McCleary, Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Fraker, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll McCleary."
