THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, May 16, 1901, page 8, column 5. "The damage case of A. J. Hemping and heirs of Kate Hemping vs. the Chicago & Northwester Railway Co., comes up for trial in the federal court at Des Moines today. The suit was brought for the killing of Miss Kate Hemping at a crossing in Colo last summer. John McCall, of Des Moines, and B. B. Welty, of this city, are attorneys for the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs won a suit against the company in the district court here recently for the killing of the horse and wrecking the buggy at the time of the death of Kate Hemping." - Nevada Journal.
