THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, March 2, 1916, page 1. "FORMER CAMBRIDGE BOY RECEIVES FATAL INJURIES - Arthur Heggen Dies at Lutheran Hospital From Effects of Injuries Received at School - Arthur Heggen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heggen, formerly of Cambridge, but now living at Grimes, is dead as a result of the injuries he received in an accident while working in the manual training department of East Des Moines high school. Death occurred Friday morning, after struggling between life and death for some days. Funeral services were held at Des Moines Saturday, after which the body was taken to Cambridge for interment after services at the Lutheran church. Heggen and a companion were using a circle saw and in some manner the board which they were sawing was tipped in such a way that it struck Heggen in the abdomen, puncturing the large intestine. The lad was taken to the home of his aunt, Mrs. A. O. Houge, where he had been staying, and later removed to the Lutheran hospital, where an examination was made and an operation performed. He made no gains at any time and death was not unexpected. He was fifteen years of age and a favorite among his companions, both in this place, where he was brought up, and in Des Moines, where he was attending school."
