THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 28, 1949, page 7, column 5. "NIGHT WATCHMAN'S FALL CAUSES DEATH AT COLFAX. - Elmer Heffelfinger, 72, of Colfax fell Friday night while covering his beat as night watchman and fractured a hip. He was taken to the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines where he passed away Wednesday morning. He is the father of Hal Heffelfinger of near Berwick. Funeral services were held Monday in Colfax."
