THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 9, 1942, page 1, column 2. "Christopher C. Halterman - Christopher C. Halterman, son of Joseph and Sarah E. Halterman, was born in Warren County, Iowa, June 2 1852, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clara Myers, Friday, April 3, at the age of 89 years 10 months and one day. He was married to Miss Sarah Wright and to this union twin sons, Ole and William, were born, who still survive and live in or near Galena, Kansas. In 1882 he was united in marriage to Belle Jones. Surviving him are five children, Willis, Joe and Mrs. Clara Myers, of Maxwell; Della Davis of Clarinda and Minta Whitney of Radcliffe, Iowa. Preceding him in death were his wife and three children, Mrs. Iva Oyler, Nancy and Cassie. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Emma Dodd, of Collins, Iowa; thirty grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. A host of friends and neighbors will miss their friend and fellow countryman. He was a loving father and patient in his declining years of life. Funeral service were held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Maxwell Church of Christ, with the Rev. H. G. Darling in charge. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. C. I. Kirk, Mrs. Miles Cook, Orlando Holtby and Arnold Scott sand "Hide Me," "In the Upper Garden" and "Does Jesus Care?" with Mrs. Arthur Porter at the piano. Mrs. D. E. Peters had charge of the beautiful floral offerings. The pallbearers were grandsons, Irving and Dean Whitney, Lawrence, Ralph and Morris Vasey and Leon Halterman. Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery."
