THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday Jun 9, 1927. "J. M. HALL DIES SUDDENLY - James M. Hall, 74, pioneer of the Collins neighborhood, died suddenly Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. C. Denniston near Collins. Funeral services were held in Collins at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Burial was in the family lot at Peoria. Mr. Hall was one of the pioneers of the old Peoria and Collins neighborhood and for many years had been engaged in the mercantile business at Collins. Following the death of his wife a few years ago, he retired from active business, the store being taken over by his son, J. Milo Hall. Since the family home was broken up by the death of his wife, he had spent his time in the homes of the children and recently had been with Mrs. Denniston and family. While he had not been well for a day or so, he had been up and around the place Saturday forenoon and had been out in the yard for some time with his grandson, Oscar Hall, of Nevada. Starting for the house, he had an attack of heart trouble and died while seated on the porch, as the family were hastening to secure relief for him. He leaves two sons and three daughters. They are Chas. H. Hall of Nevada; Doren Milo Hall, Mrs. H. C. Denniston, of Collins; Mrs. O. G. Smith of Toledo, and Mrs. M. H. Biddick, of Marion."
