THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, May 15, 1924, page 1, column 5. "MRS. JAMES HALL - Hannah Dunlap, daughter of Thomas and Hannah Dunlap, was born in Ohio April 5, 1842, and departed this life May 6, 1924, at the age of eighty-two years, one month and one day. She was one of a family of thirteen children, of whom but one brother, Hiram Dunlap, of Elton, Wis. And one sister, Mrs. Della Tarbox, of Anamosa, Iowa, survive. In early life she was converted and joined the Methodist church and was a faithful and loyal attendant as long as health permitted. She was united in marriage March 4, 1861, to James Hayes Hall. To this union were born six children, two sons and four daughters. Her husband and two daughters, Margaret, in infancy, and Mrs. Nellie Denniston, preceded her in death. The surviving are Franklin L. of Redfield, S. D.; Leroy W., of Elwell, Iowa; Mary M. Carpenter, of Cheney, Wash., and Mrs. Alice Wood, of Maxwell. There are twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Hall, in her long illness, which lasted for several years, was a patient sufferer; a woman loved by all who knew her and by her friendly spirit she won a wide circle of friends. She sincerely appreciated the kind attention given her by her neighbors who joined with the children in giving her loving care. She often spoke of their goodness to her. She had cast bread upon the waters which was returned to her, as she was always willing and anxious in health to administer to the sick and suffering. No one ever came to her in need who went away empty handed. She had a big warm, loving heart, and was a faithful wife and mother, a kind and good neighbor. "Sleep on Dear One and take thy rest. God called thee home He thought it best." Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the Methodist church, by Rev. Jackson Giddens, of Nevada, a former pastor at Maxwell, with interment in the Maxwell Cemetery by the side of her husband. CARD OF THANKS - We wish to express our sincere appreciation to our many friends for the kindness and sympathy shown us during the sickness and death of our beloved mother, and the beautiful floral offerings. The Children of Mrs. Hannah Hall."
