THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, August 15, 1929, page 1, column 2. "FRANK L. HALL. - Funeral services for Franklin Lee Hall, who passed away Tuesday morning, July 30, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Mather, of Redfield, S. D., were held the following Thursday afternoon at Redfield. The services were conducted form the Methodist church with Rev. W. S. Shepherd officiating. Music was provided by a quartet consisting of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Coleman, A. L. Coleman and Mrs. Wm. Zarneke. Interment was made in Greenlawn cemetery. Mr. Hall's death came after a long illness, following a stroke of apoplexy suffered three years ago. Franklin Lee Hall, eldest child of James H. and Hanna Hall, was born November 23, 1861, near Maxwell, Iowa. This was his home during his childhood and youth. He was united in marriage to Clara Laurinda John at Nevada, Iowa, November 13, 1884, the contracting parties having grown up together in the same community as children and young people. To this union three children were born, all of whom are living, Mrs. Thomas Mather, of Redfield; Clyde D., living west of Tulare, and Willis A. of Aberdeen. In March 1926, Mrs. Hall passed away and since that time Mr. Hall has been tenderly cared for in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mather. Mr. and Mrs. Hall continued to live near Maxwell and Collins, for a number of years. In 1907 the family moved to South Dakota and located on a farm in Hand county, where they lived until 1910 when they retired from farm life and moved to Redfield. Mr. Hall had always been a man of rugged physical strength and health until December, 1926, when he suffered a stroke of apoplexy, and for the last thirteen months he has been an invalid, and confined to his room, for the past six months being obliged to sit in his chair night and day. After all these months of failing health the end came quietly at 11:45 Tuesday morning at the age of 67 years, eight months and seven days. He is survived by his daughter and two sons, also five grandsons and five granddaughters, two sisters, Mrs. Harve Wood, of Maxwell, and Mrs. Fred Carpenter, of Cheney, Wash., and one brother, L. W. Hall, of Maxwell. In 1916 he united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of Redfield, under the pastorate of Rev. Albert Hartt. He was a faithful member of the church to the hour of his translation and a regular attendant at the services as long as health and strength permitted."
