Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Maude Beckner
COLLINS: Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Christian church for Mrs. Maude Beckner who died at her home in Collins Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Ellis Marin officiated.
The Rev. William Seeley of Arlington was soloist and sang "No Night There" and "We'll Say Goodnight Here But Good Morning Up There" accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Florence Mead.
Mrs. Mercie Wear and Mrs. Ruth Huntrods had charge of the flowers.
Casket bearers were Howard Evans, William Huntrods, Earl Newton, Floyd Oswalt, Russell Oswalt and Kenneth Tomlinson.
Obituary
Maude Beckner was born Feb. 12, 1883 at Lamont, Iowa and passed away in her home in Collins Jan. 10, 1956 [should be 1957] aged 73 years, 11 months and 28 days. She was united in marriage to Ralph E. Beckner at Manchester, Iowa on Dec. 9, 1903 Most of their married life was spent in and around Arlington coming to Collins in 1954.
Surviving her are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Leigh Boggs of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Alice Newton of Collins; three grandchildren, Jim, Mary and Marie Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Wintenberg of Sebastopol, Calif. and Mrs. Margaret Rick of Cedar Rapids; and a number of nephews and nieces. Mrs. Beckner raised one niece, Mrs. Lila Wagner of Mt. Pleasant from childhood. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sister. She was a member of the Collins Christian church.
Burial was in Collins Evergreen cemetery with the Ryan Funeral Home of Collins in charge.
