Pioneer Collins Woman Died at Home There Today

Special to the Journal:
Collins, Nov. 24--Mrs. Mary McCord died at 3:00 a. m. today at her home in Collins.

Funeral arrangements await word from some of the children who live at a distance.

Mrs. McCord was born September 23, 1858, a daughter of Osgood and Nancy Wilhide [should be Willhide], pioneers of the Iowa Center neighborhood and she had lived in Story county practically all of her life, although her first husband Charles Dolph died at Canby, Minn., during a brief residence at that place where they had moved in 1909.

He first marriage was to Charles Dolph on July 4, 1878, and they located on a farm near Collins. There six children were born to them. Herbert died in infancy and Will about ten years ago. The surviving children are Olin Dolph and Mrs. Ethel Halterman of Collins, Mrs. Chloe Reinhardt [should be Reingardt] of Montana and Marlo Dolph of St. Paul.

After the children were grown Mr. and Mrs. Dolph moved to Candy, Minn., where the husband died. She returned to Collins and on June 27, 1919, she was married to Jacob McCord, who passed away about six years ago.

In addition to the children she leaves a sister Mrs. Ruth Gearhard [should be Gearhart] of the Maxwell neighborhood and numerous other more distant relatives.
