The funeral of Miss Myrtle Finley, 45, former Nevada woman, who died at a hospital at Sioux Falls the evening of September 25, were held at Salem, S. D. Presbyterian church in that city the Monday following.

The following life sketch of the deceased appeared in the Salem Special, weekly newspaper of that place, where the Finleys had lived for the past 37 years.

"The many friends of Miss Myrtle Finley in this community were shocked to learn last Saturday that she had died the previous evening in Sioux Valley hospital at Sioux Falls. She had been ill only four days and very few people in the community were aware of that fact until the announcement of her death was made.

"The remains were brought to Salem and on Monday afternoon funeral services were conducted at 1:30 o'clock at the Finley home northeast of town and at 2:30 o'clock in the Presbyterian church by Rev. A. C. Roos, assisted by Rev. C. W. Adams, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Sioux Falls.

"Burial was made in the family lot in Wildwood cemetery. The pall bearers were H. M. Kremer of Sioux Falls, Carl Timmerman, John Nelson, Fred Nelson, Lee Shickell of Maxwell, Iowa, and Veryl Williams of Nevada, Iowa. The last two named are cousins of the Finleys.

The office of the Sunshine Mutual Insurance Company in Sioux Falls was closed all afternoon on the day of the funeral and Miss Finley's employer, W. A. Swark, and the complete office staff attended the services in a body. Members of the Presbyterian Guild of Sioux Falls, to which she belonged, and a large number of Sioux Falls friends were also present.

"Myrtle Marie Finley was born on November 21, 1896 at Nevada, Iowa. In 1905 she accompanied her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Finley to this community and resided here until seven years ago when she accepted a position in the office of the Sunshine Mutual Insurance Company at Sioux Falls.

"She attended school in Nevada, Iowa and in Salem, and later completed a course at Nettleton commercial college in Sioux Falls.

"Her death occurred on September 25, 1942, at the age of 45 years, ten months and four days.

"Miss Finley was a member of the First Presbyterian church at Sioux Falls, and of the Women's Guild in that church. She also held membership in the Rebekah lodge in that city.

"She was a gracious, unassuming young lady who had acquired a great many friendships during her long residence near Salem, and her sudden and unexpected death is a heavy loss to her family and friends.

"She is survived by her father, O. J. Finley, two sisters, Mrs. August Timmerman and Mrs. Charles Miller; one nephew, Donald Timmerman, and one niece, Colleen Miller, of Salem.

"Her mother preceded her in death on August 25, 1926.

Out-of-town relatives at the last rites were Mrs. Effie Moran of Nevada, Iowa, Veryl Williams, Nevada, Iowa, Lee Shickell of Maxwell, Iowa.
