Funeral Rites Held At Slater for John J. Hatland
Slater, Oct 6--Funeral services for John J. Hatland were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Riis Funeral Home. The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem of the Bethlehem Lutheran church.
Mesdames M. S. Heggen and A. L. Peterson sang two duets "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee." The pallbearers were Oliver Erickson, John Anderson and Oscar Johnson of Sheldahl and T. W. Rawson and Chas. Skortman of Slater. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
John J. Hatland was born near Sheldahl, in Polk county, February 1st, 1867, and died at Mount Pleasant, October 1, 1942. He was 75 years old.
He is survived by two brothers, Eric Hatland of Des Moines, and Ben Hatland of Estherville. Also two sisters, Mrs. Anna Erickson of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Helen Judge of Los Angeles, California. All were present at the services with the exception of Mrs. Judge from California.
