THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday February 1913, page 2. "OBITUARY - Catherine Schrock Enfield was born August 2, 1826, and died at the home of her son W. C. Enfield, four miles south of Maxwell, February 21, 1913, living to the ripe old age of eighty-six years, six months and eighteen days. Mrs. Enfield was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, and in the year 1856 accompanied the family of Moses Miller to Johnson county, Iowa, where, in 1858, she was united in marriage to William Enfield, and to this union five children were born, all of whom with the husband and father remain to mourn their loss, except one babe who died in infancy. The first five years of her married life was spent with her husband on a farm in Johnson county, after which in 1866, they moved to Polk county to the farm home on which she spent the last years, where she lived the most of her life, battling with the problems of this life until the Good Shepherd called her to her reward. In her early married life, she with her husband, united with the Church of the Brethren, of which she has remained a faithful member, and has lived an untiring Christian life, always ready to lend a helping hand to those who were in distress and need. She was a faithful helpmate, and did all she possible could for the comfort and welfare of her husband and family. About four months previous to her death, she fell and sustained such injuries that she has since been confined to her bed, but she was a patient sufferer, and had the utmost faith in her Savior, even to the end of her life, and at times sang sketches of redeeming love. Besides the bereaved husband, she leaves two sons, Wm. C., and Abraham C., both of Maxwell; two daughter, Mrs. Sadie Boinott, of Elwell and Mrs. Lizzie Keay, of Des Moines, seventeen grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the country Church of the Brethren, conducted by Rev. Mose Deardorf, of Yale, Iowa, after which interment was made in the Brethren cemetery. A large concourse of neighbors and friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased."
