THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, November 30, 1961, page 1, column 3. "BESSIE MAY ENFIELD. - Bessie May Devilbiss, daughter of John and Molly Devilbiss, was born near Panora, Iowa, April 25, 1882 and departed this life November 21, 1961 at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 27 days. She spent most of her younger days around Panora and Yale, Iowa, until coming to the Maxwell vicinity. She made her home with Rev. and Mrs. E. D. Fiscil for 13 years. As a young girl she accepted Christ as her Savior and faithfully served Him. She was a member of the Brethren Church and was a willing worker as long as her health permitted. She was united in marriage to Phillip Enfield January 14, 1914. To this union was born two sons, Dwight and Earl, both of Maxwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother. Those who survive are two sons, Dwight and Earl; four grandchildren, Craig, Sherri, Calvin and Joyce; two half sisters, Mrs. Olie Kindred of Orient, Iowa and Mrs. Charles Batterson of Wadena, Minn.; two half brothers, Virgil Devilbiss of Redfield and Leo Devilbiss of Guthrie Center. She was a loving mother, kind neighbor and friendly and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Funeral services were held Friday, November 24, 1961 at 2:00 p. m. at the Maxwell Brethren Church, with Rev. Thomas Kelly and Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Alice Gooden, accompanied by charlotte Caple at the piano sang, "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "No Disappointment in Heaven." Flowers were cared for by Geneva Link and Maureen Norton. Casket bearers were Richard Link, Finley Stebbins, James Weatherman, Keith Meyers, George Cairns and C. H. Norton. Interment was in the Brethren Cemetery." "CARD OF THANKS. - We wish to express our deepest gratitude to our relatives, friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness, messages of sympathy and beautiful floral offerings for the of our Mother.** Special thanks to the Peoria W.
