ARTHUR VASEY IS DEAD AT COLLINS

LONG TIME BUSINESS MAN DIED AT HOME EARLY TODAY

Special to the Journal.
Collins, Dec. 15--Arthur A. Vasey, 55, long time lumber merchant of this place died at his home here at 3:00 this morning after and extended illness.

The beginning of the illness dated back about two years, the last three months of which his condition has been serious.

The funeral service will be held at the Methodist church in Collins Thursday afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. John Adamson in charge. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. Vasey was the fourth son of William and Ana Vasey, pioneer people of this community. He was born on a farm, south of here in Jasper county, September 11, 1876 and later moved with his family to what became the Vasey homestead two miles south of Collins.

He attended school in Collins and graduated from the local high school with the class of 1896. Shortly after that time he became associated with a brother in the retail lumber business in Collins. He continued actively engaged in that business for over thirty years.

Mr. Vasey was married to Miss Lena Burney of Collins, October 25, 1909. Three children were born to this union, all of whom, with the wife survive.

The children are Charlotte M., now a teacher in the schools at Glidden, Lillian E., a teacher in the primary department at Paton and Irene A., a junior high school student.

Besides these he leaves his brothers Charles of Collins, John of Austin, Minn., and Jesse and Rollie of near Collins and the sisters, Mrs. Alma Harsh, Mrs. Clara Hand and Miss Esther Vasey, all of Collins.

Mr. Vasey had been a long time member of the Methodist church here, also a member of Fervent Lodge No. 513 A. F. & A. M., Collins O. E. S. No. 134 and Armity Lodge No. 361 I. O. O. F.
