Held Final Rites for the Late Clinton E. Poush
Funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon at the Evangelical church in Colo for Clinton E. Poush, who died at the University hospital in Iowa City Friday, Nov. 13, as a result of sarcoma. Burial was in the cemetery at McCallsburg. The services were in charge of Rev. Keith Orr.
Three songs were sung by a quartet consisting of Nellie Lounsberry, Lois Yeager, Charles Lehman and Mark Wilson, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Lois Dickenson.
Pallbearers were Joe Brownsfield, John Brouhard, Ed Schoonover, Charles Yeager, Nels Perry and Walter Mains.
The beautiful floral offerings were cared for by Margaret Harding and Mable Tripp.
The following obituary of the deceased was read by the minister during the service.
"Clinton Edgar Poush, son of Daniel and Elizabeth Poush, was born August 11, 1874, at Newburn, Marion county, Iowa. He depart from this life on November 13, 1941, at the age of 67 years, three months and two days.
"When a small boy, he moved with his parents to Warren county, where he grew to manhood.
"In May, 1912, he was married to Lottie Lemon, who departed from this life in 1929. To this union six children were born. A daughter Maxine, and a son, Harold, died in infancy. Those who remain to mourn the passing of their father are Dean Poush of Nevada, and his twin brother, Gene, of Camp Claiborne, La., Mrs. Nellie White of Ames, and Mrs. Hazel Cheville of Colo.
Other bereaved relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Olive Edson of Chariton and Mrs. Mae Davis of Osceola, and one brother, Joe Poush, also of Osceola, and seven grandchildren. At the age of 36 he was converted and united with the Christian church at Bethel chapel in Clark county.
"Mr. Poush had been in declining health during the past few month. During the last month he was at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harley Cheville, in Colo, where he became bedfast.
"He was taken to the State University hospital at Iowa City where he passed away four days later as a result of sarcoma.
