THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 2, 1926, page 1, column 5. "J. T. DUNLAP PASSES AWAY. - J. T. Dunlap passed away at his home, west of Farrar, Sunday evening at 11:45, after an illness of over a year of hardening of the arteries. Mr. Dunlap has been in poor health for the past few years, and since September, 1925, has been confined to his home practically all of the time. He became unconscious Saturday about 4 o'clock and the end came just before midnight Sunday. Mr. Dunlap was a native of Jasper county and has been a resident of the Farrar neighborhood all his life. He was sixty-four years of age. He is survived by his wife and eight children, four sons and four daughters, all of whom were at his bedside when he passed away. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the M. P. church at Farrar, conducted by Rev. C. R. DUNLAP – James Thomas Dunlap, only son of George and Elizabeth Dunlap was born May 22, 1862, near Peoria City, Iowa and departed this life November 28, 1926, at his home near Farrar, Iowa being sixty-four years, six months and 6 days of age. With the exception of two years, his entire life has been spent in the vicinity of Peoria and Farrar. In the year 1886 he was converted and joined the Friends Church at Garden City, Iowa. Later he transferred his membership to the Methodist Protestant church at Farrar, to which church he has been a faithful and consistent member. At the time he was taken with his recent illness he was a valued member of the board of trustees of the Farrar church, being chairman. He was also a member of the building committee during the recent erection of the present church at Farrar. He was a member of the Odd Fellows at Maxwell, being a member for about thirty-three years. He was also associated with the late C. G. Geddes and others in the building of the consolidated school of which he served a term as director. He was married to Emma Eatwell December 28, 1883, to which union were born eight children, Mrs. A. S. Gifford, George, Mrs. S. M. Payne, Bert, Frank, Mrs. A. S. Tomlinson, Mrs. J. B. Kimberly and Loren, all of this community. He is survived by his widow, the above named children and eighteen grand children, besides a number of other relatives and friends who sorrow at his passing. He was a good man in all life relations and will be greatly missed by the entire community. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. R. Green, from the Methodist Protestant church.
