THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 19, 1959, page 2, column 2. "OBITUARY - GEORGE WILLIAM DUESBURY. - George William Duesbury, eldest son of Thomas and Levenia Backous Duesbury and a life long resident of northwest Jasper County, died suddenly from a heart attack in his home February 10, 1959 at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 5 days. With the exception of five years he lived on the same farm all his live. He had been in failing health the last two years and was a patient at the St. Thomas hospital in Marshalltown a few weeks ago. Mr. Duesbury was united in marriage to Marie Maher on February 12, 1934, at St. Patrick's church in Nevada. To this union was born one daughter Mary Margaret. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Marie and Mary Margaret, who attends Mount Saint Clare Academy, at Clinton, Iowa. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Levenia Duesbury, of Maxwell, now a patient at the Story County Hospital; three sisters Mrs. Loren (Elizabeth) Davis, Mrs. Albert (Eva) Link and Mrs. Howard (Minnie) Cummings, all of Maxwell and one brother, Henry, of Collins. He was a member of St. Mary's church at Colo and of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Duesbury was an exemplary husband and father and a most helpful neighbor in the community. Funeral serves were held at St. Mary's Catholic church, in Colo at 10:00 o'clock Friday morning with the Rev. Father White officiating. The large congregation gathered to pay respect to a good friend and neighbor attested to his standing in the community as a fine type of citizen. Casket bearers were John Duesbury, Donald Cummings, Donald Evans, Lewell Holmes, Charles Carson, and William Huntrod. Interment was in the St. James cemetery at Colo. Cooper Funeral Home of Maxwell were in charge of the services. CARD OF THANKS. - Our heartfelt thanks to all who extended comforting sympathy and help in our recent sorrow. For the beautiful service, floral offerings and other kindnesses, we are deeply grateful. Mrs. Marie Duesbury and Mary. Mrs. Levenia Duesbury and family."
