Funeral Services Held at Huxley For Mrs. Michaelson

Huxley, Oct. 15--Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Michelson were held at the Palestine church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon following a prayer service at the home at 1:30. The services were in charge of her pastor Rev. H. E. Jacobson and special music was furnished by Walter Christopher who sang a solo, "Behold a Host Arrayed in White," and a mixed quartet composed of Alvina Brendeland, Gladys Rullestad, Walter Christopher and Ole Halverson. They sang "Tell Mother I'll Be There" and "We Are Going Down the Valley." Mrs. H. E. Jacobson played the organ accompaniment.

In addition to the many beautiful floral offerings, there were also many gifts to the missions given in her memory by relatives and friends.

Pall bearers were six nephews, James and Stanley Thompson of Napier, Myron Thompson of Kelley, Robert Thompson of Slater, Milford and Leonard Thompson of Huxley. The remains were interred in the family lot in the Palestine cemetery.

The following obituary was read:

Mrs. Ellen Malinda Michelson was born Sept. 4, 1867, in Polk county, Iowa. Her parents were Lars and Julia Thompson. She was baptized by Pastor Osmund Sheldahl and confirmed by Pastor Hans Christian Holm. On Dec. 3, 1885, she was united in marriage to Halver J. Michelson. Mr. Michelson passed away in 1933. Mr. and Mrs. Michelson were blessed with three children, Jacob of Huxley, Mrs. Nellie Larson of Cambridge and Mrs. Sadie Lee of Madrid. For the past year she had been afflicted with a heart ailment and passed away at her home on Tuesday evening, Oct. 6, 1942, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 2 days.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

At the time of her death she was the last member of a family of five sisters and three brothers. Her half-sister passed away about a month ago. Blessed among you be her memory.

Among the relatives and friends from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rolfe and children of Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Erickson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson of Story City; Mrs. Carl Lee and children of Boone; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller and daughter of Polk City; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Heggen, Mr. and Mrs. Miller Johnson and Marie of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rutter and children, Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Thompson and Mrs. Ralph Keltner of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Lee and family of Madrid.
