Funeral Services for K. B. Thompson, Palestine Pioneer
Special to the Journal.
Slater, April 13--Funeral services for K. B. Thompson, 84, were held Wednesday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock at the home and 2 o"clock at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. E. R. Rorem. The floral offerings were unusually beautiful and were in charge of Mrs. Albert Lehman, Miss Marie Folgero and Mrs. Bertha Nervig. The pallbearers were Ole Storing, Will Krause, M. Mickelson, Harold Ersland, Chas. Ryen and George Alleman. Mrs. M. S. Heggen sang a Norwegian song "Den Store Hvide Flok." A duet "In the Garden" was sung by Mesdames A. L. Peterson and M. S. Heggen accompanied by Mrs. Harold Croft of Des Moines.Knut B. Thompson was born October 14, 1951 in Skaanevig, Norway and died April 7, 1935 at his home here, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 13 days. His parents were Benjamin and Inger Thompson. In 1854 he came to America with his parents and settled in Lisbon, Ill. They did not stay long in Illinois. In 1855 they joined a band of pioneers who came to Story county and settled in this locality. His marriage to Miss Bertha Johnson took place June 4, 1880. Four children blessed this union, a daughter Katie died in February 1926. His wife died Dec. 2, 1921. Mr. Thompson was always active in church and school circles and filled offices in both organizations. The family moved from the farm and took up their residence in Slater in 190. The Ladies Aid and the Woman's Auxiliary of the Bethlehem church and several groups of relatives gave gifts to the mission work in his memory.
He leaves to mourn his loss, one daughter Miss Nellie Thompson of Slater, two sons Elmer Thompson of Des Moines and Mart Thompson of Slater, two grandchildren, Miss Blanche and Bernice Thompson of Des Moines, and one brother Zach B. Thompson of Los Angeles, besides a large circle of friends.

Eliason of Lyle, Minn., Mr. Gunder Wagley, Leslie Wagleny and son of Hadley, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thompson and daughters Blanche and Bernice, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hillestad and Mr. Harold Croft of Des Moines, John Houge, Earl Rayness and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dahl of Ames, Stephen Knutson and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Knutson and daughter Martha of Marshalltown, Oliver Hill, Miss Martha Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hill, Eric and John Thorson of Cambridge, Messrs. and Mesdames A. K. Johnson, Serene Johnson, Lars Ritland, Sanford Heggen and Miss Belle Richardson, T. J. Saboe, Elmer, Eli and Neil Johnson, Tom Berhow, Nels Kloster, Randall and Milford Thompson all from Huxley.
