Last Rites for John O. Dawson At Colo Church
Colo, July 29 -- Funeral services for John O. Dawson were held at the Calvary Evangelical church Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The services were in charge of Rev. Keith Orr, former pastor of the church, and Rev. R. L. Russell, pastor. Music was furnished by Rev. Russell as soloist, who sang "Good-Night and Good Morning," "Sunrise Tomorrow" and "In the Upper Garden." He was accompanied by Mrs. Merle Dickinson as pianist.
Casket bearers were: Ralph Thornton, Delbert Dickinson, George Marlow, Raymond Dunshee, Eugene Hemping, Claude Dickinson.
Obituary
John Olmstead Dawson, son of John C. and Effie E. Dawson, was born in Story county on October 7, 1890 and departed this life on July 19, 1946, at his home near Colo, Iowa, at the age of 55 years, 9 months and 12 days.
He was united in marriage to Mary A. Cooper on December 10, 1913. To this union four daughters were born.
His entire life has been lived in the Colo community where over the passing of years he won to himself many loyal and devoted friends. Early in life he made his confession of faith in the former Dalton United Brethren church.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife; four daughters, Dorene Hemping, Doris Moon, Donna and Dorothy all of Colo; two grandchildren, Ronald and Sandra Moon; two sisters, Ethel Flowerdew of Twin Falls, Idaho and Marie McNabb of Maxwell, Iowa; one brother, Herbert of Des Moines; and a host of other relatives and friends. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
A devoted husband and a loving father had departed from your midst, but in your hearts there shall dwell cherished memories than can never die.
