THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, October 10, 1918, page 1. "MRS. T. M. BYERS - Mary Tipton was born at Zanesville, Ohio, March 12, 1829 and departed this life at Maxwell, Iowa, October 1, 1918, at the age of eighty-nine years, six months and nineteen days. A good long life well lived. She was married to Thomas M. Byers April 3, 1951. This union was blessed with seven children, four of whom are still living. The husband and three daughters also three grandchildren have preceded the wife and mother to the heavenly home. She, with her husband, came to Iowa in the year 1860, moving to Maxwell in 1895. She was converted and united with the Presbyterian church in early life and has been a faithful, consistent member ever since. She is survived by three sons: Wm. J., Marcus, Robert S., Pasadena, Calif., and T. S. Byers of Maxwell; and daughter Mrs. Anna B. Davidson, of Maxwell; also three grand-children and four great-grandchildren. We are called upon to part with a good mother, a kind neighbor, a faithful Christian. God has called the faithful one to the heavenly home. The funeral was held last Thursday at the Presbyterian church conducted by Rev. S. C. Wadding, with interment at Peoria cemetery. CARD OF THANKS - We wish to thank the friends and neighbors who so kindly remembered and assisted us during the sickness and passing of our beloved mother. Children of Mrs. T. M. Byers."
