Minnie Olive Trowbridge Byers (1875-1941)

"Funeral Services Held at Maxwell for Mrs. Minnie Byers - Maxwell, Nov. 28 - Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Byers were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 22, at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church, with the pastor, Rev., John C. Turner in charge, with Miss Phyllis Turner at the piano. A quartet composed of Mrs. Harold Mohler, Mrs. C. I. Kirk, C. B. French and Martin H. Troup sang "In the Garden," "Going Down the Valley" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer." Floral tributes were many and very beautiful. Pallbearers were her sons, Orville, Mike, John, Loren, Wilbur and Clifford. Burial was in the family lot in the Bondurant cemetery by the side of the father, John A. Byers, who died a year and a half ago. Rev. Turner read the following life sketch of the deceased: "Mrs. Minnie Olive Byers, daughter of Samuel Trowbridge, was born March 19, 1875, and died at her home in Maxwell Nov. 20, 1941, at the age of 66 years, eight months and one day. "On Jan. 15, 1895, at Corning, Ia., she was united in marriage to John A Byers. She lived for a time at Corning, then in Des Moines and the remaining part of her life in or near the Maxwell community. "She is the mother of 11 children, one deceased, Mrs. Iva Hart, who died May 23, 1934. The living are Charles and Mike of Mitchellville, Orville of Bondurant, Clifford of Nevada, Mrs. Pearl Mleynak of Earlham, John of Colfax, Violet and Wilbur of Maxwell, Loren of Des Moines and Mrs. Mable De Hoet of Ames. She has four sisters and one brother living and there are 18 grandchildren also surviving. Mr. Byers passed away April 2, 1940. "Since early in life Mrs. Byers has been a member of the Methodist church."

MINNIE OLIVE BYERS. - Mrs. Milline Olive Byers, daughter of Samuel Trowbridge, was born on March 19, 1875, and passed away at her home in Maxwell November 20, 1941, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and one day. On January 15th, 1895, at Corning, Iowa, she was united in marriage to John A. Byers. She lived for a time at Corning then in Des Moines and the remaining part of her life in or near the Maxwell community. She is the mother of eleven children, one deceased. Mrs. Iva Hart, who died May 23, 1934. Out-of-town friends and relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. John Fredrickson, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Fredrickson, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tomblinson**, all of Bondurant; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tynan and Miss Bessie Tolles, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Higginbottom and Mrs. Kate Cory of Elkhart; Charles, Dan and Donald O'Roake, of Newton." "Card of Thanks. - To those who have been with us in our bereavement and by kind words and kindly acts have tried to lessen our sorrow we extend our sincere thanks.
