Last Rites For Mrs. Eliza Perry Held Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Eliza Perry, 86, long time resident of Story county, who died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. E. Kleinschmidt, 1128 Fifth street, were held from the Ryan Funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. O. E. Cooley of the Nevada Methodist church officiating.

Mrs. Theron Case sang "Beautiful Isle" and "Shadows" with Mrs. Norman C. Dobson accompanying. The many beautiful flowers were arranged by Mrs. Rena Phillips and Mrs. Lee Alexander.

The pall bearers were M. H. Koch, Wallp Piper, Kermit Sandrs, Fred Roe, Kenneth Perry and Marvin Perry. Burial was in the Colo cemetery.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Cooley.

Mrs. Perry was born at Lena, Ill., July 2, 1861, a daughter of Wm. and Virginia Houser. She had been a resident of Story county since 1876.

Sarah Eliza Houser was the eldest of seven children, two brothers and two sisters having preceded her in death.

When 15 years of age she came with her parents in a covered wagon to Colo where she lived most of her life with the exception of 25 years spent in Minnesota and the last seven years with her daughter in Nevada.

She was united in marriage to Frank Perry, Dec. 15, 1881, in Nevada. Mrs. Perry passed away Dec. 28, 1902.

To this union were born nine children, two of whom, Blanche Emberton and Marvin Perry, preceded her in death. The surviving children are Arthur B. and Roy C. of Colo, Frank H. and William N. of Truman, Minn., Grace Tevebaugh of Des Moines, Myrtle Sanders of Rhodes and Mattie Kleinschmidt of Nevada.

She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Shaw, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Cora Hess of Lyons, Colo. Surviving also are 24 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.

When a child the deceased became a member of the Lutheran church at Lena, Ill. and later joined the Methodist church at Colo.
