Edward C. Hanks Dies at Cambridge

Cambridge, July 7--Edward C. Hanks, 75-year-old Cambridge farmer, died yesterday evening at his home near Cambridge.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Cambridge with the Rev. LeRoy Sargent, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Cambridge cemetery.

The are no surviving children. (A complete obituary will be published in a later issue of the Journal.)

Funeral Services Held Recently For Edward C. Hanks

Cambridge, July 20--Funeral services were held in the United Brethren Church for Edward Clinton Hanks on Friday, July 9 with Rex LeRoy Sargent having charge. Songs were "The Old Rugged Cross," "It Is Well with My Soul," "Under His Wing," sung by Laura and Hazel Lyon.

The pallbearers were Harley Elliott, Orton Adams, Andrew Sesker, Keith Lyons, Walter Thomas. Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery.

The following obituary was read: Edward Clinton Hanks, son of Dewey and Comfort Hanks, was born July 3, 1873 on a farm north of Cambridge where he lived his entire life. Two weeks ago today he suffers a stroke, passed away at home July 6, 1948 being 75 years and three days.

On Jan. 21, 1915 he was married to Allie Burton of Cambridge to which union was born two children Warren Edward born Dec. 29, 1915 killed in the service on Feb. 22, 1944, Ida Frances died in infancy, also a grandson Dewitt Clinton died Sept. 18. 1938.

He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized recently.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Allie, a daughter-in-law, Ida, three sisters, Clara, Mrs. H. B. Brown, Alice, Mrs. J. C. Huff; Dessie, Mrs. R. J. Scott, all of Cambridge, a host of friends and relatives.
