Hold Final Services for Arnie Johnson
Funeral services for the late Arnie Johnson, who suddenly passed away last Wednesday, were held at Bergen's church in Roland on Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Allen Nelson in charge. Burial was in Roland cemetery.
Short prayer services were held at the Erickson Funeral home, prior to the services at the church.
A male quartet, Reuben Erickson, Orris Osheim, Otto Hanson and Reuben Larson, sang "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee." The casket bearers were nephews of the deceased, Julius and Marion Johnson, Reuben Solyst, Marvin Nelson, Joe Johnson and Curtis Twedt of Des Moines.
Obituary
Arnie Josias Johnson, son of the late Elias and Taaran Johnson, was born on the Johnson homestead, northeast of Roland on Feb. 9, 1886. He attended the Roland schools, the academy of Albert Lea, Minn., and studied pharmacy at Highland Park university in Des Moines. He has always lived in the Roland community, with the exception of a few years, which he spent in Colorado and California.
He also worked in the Roland banks and was assistant cashier at the Story County State bank, when he resigned three years ago due to ill health. He was at present a real estate and insurance man and was working on his new home in the east part of Roland when stricken. He was secretary of the Iowa District of the Lutheran Brotherhood, treasurer of Bergen church and was an active member of the Roland Community club.

Relatives and friends attended the services from Nevada, Mason City, Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Zearing, Dows, Belmond, Grundy Center, Whitten, New Hampton and Tama.
The Priscilla Circle of the church served lunch of the relatives at the parish house following the services at the cemetery.
