Hold Final Services For Martin A. Cross

Funeral services were conducted from the Collins Methodist church Sunday afternoon Sept. 3, for the late Martin A. Cross, who died Thursday, Aug. 31, at Mary Greeley hospital, Ames. The death of Mr. Cross resulted from injuries received in an automobile accident near Iowa Center, Aug. 20.

The services were conducted by the Rev. Louis H. Joslin. Music was by Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson and Mrs. L. D. Holland, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Mead, pianist, the songs being "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Good Night and Good Morning."

Flowers

The beautiful floral offerings were cared for by the Misses Iva and Ada Swalwell.

Pallbearers were Clarence Maxwell, Leon Maxwell, Ivan Mullihan, Everett Kelderhouse, Floyd Oswalt and Gailard Clark. Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Relatives and friends attending from a distance were from Minnesota, Illinois, Des Moines, Perry, Boone, Atlantic, Ames, Iowa Falls, Cambridge, State Center, Zearing, Fernald, Mingo, Eldora, Maxwell, Colo.

Obituary

Martin A. Cross was born Oct. 15, 1878, at Seville, Ill., and passed away at Mary Greeley hospital, Ames, Ia., Aug. 31, 1950 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 16 days.

He was the son of John and Sophia Cross. While a young boy, he was baptized in the Baptist church.

Mr. Cross lived at Marietta, Ill., before moving to Collins, Ia., in 1905. He was united in marriage to Eliza Pearl Mead on Jan. 2, 1907. Since that time Mr. and Mrs. Cross have lived in the Collins community. He was a kind and affectionate husband and father, and was devoted to his home.

Surviving are his wife, Eliza Pearl; son, Lester, of Collins; a sister, Sarah Bousman of Marietta, Ill., and a brother, Bruce Cross of Perry, Ia. A sister preceded him in death. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
