RITES FOR HARVEY SOUTHERN ARE HELD IN COLLINS MAY 18

Harvey E. Southern, son of David and Melissa Southern was born Feb. 13, 1883 on a farm near Collins in Jasper County.

He was united in marriage to Cynthia Mae Mead Oct. 25, 1911 and their entire married life was spent in and around Collins.

Mr. Southern is survived by his wife, Mae, a daughter, Wilma Koehler, one grandson, Jack Koehler, two sisters, Mrs. Lena Renfeldt and Mrs. Bertha Ozmun all of Collins and numerous nieces and nephews. The deceased was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.

He had been engaged in farming, was a mail carrier and was postmaster in Collins for several years. He was a member of the Collins Methodist Church.

Services were held in the Collins Methodist Church Saturday, May 18 at 2 p. m. Interment was in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

Rev. James Louk officiated and music was furnished by Dorothy Holland, Ruth Mitchell and Phyllis Derby. Flowers were cared for by Dorothy Hay and Dorothy Robertson. Pallbearers were Gus Hay, Kenneth Talbot, Andrew Johnstone, James Johnstone.
