DEATHS

CYNTHIA SOUTHERN

Cynthia Mae Southern, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown.

She was born near Collins October 27, 1887, the daughter of Charles and Mary Mead. She graduated from the Collins High School and taught in rural schools near Collins.

She married Harvey Southern October 25, 1911. They lived in and near Collins all their lives. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1961.

Her husband, five sisters, one brother and her parent preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. George Koehler and husband of Collins, a grandson, and many other relatives.

Services were Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Collins Methodist Church with Rev. Wilton Grant officiating. Mary Rice played the organ and Kay Robinson was the vocalist.

Pallbearers were Milo Dodd, Howard Handsaker, Ralph Vasey, Andrew Johnson and Kewey Kern of Collins and George Crowther of Marshalltown. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Milo Dodd and Mrs. Howard Handsaker. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Collins.
