Mrs. Millessa Southern Buried this Afternoon

Collins, Aug. 12--Funeral services for Mrs. Milessa Southern who died at her home here Saturday, were held Monday afternoon at 2:30, at the Methodist church, the sermon being preached by Rev. David Young of Ogden. Interment was in the Collins cemetery by the side of her husband who died several years ago.Milessa Caroline Penquite Southern was born in Ohio, April 29, 1852 and died at her home in Collins, Aug. 10, 1929 at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 11 days. At the age of fifteen she moved with her parents to Iowa and was married to David Southern, Feb. 22, 1872 moving at that time to the home farm south of town where they resided until Nov. 1, 1926. At that time they moved to the home in Collins.
To this union seven children were born, two boys and five girls, the eldest son John proceeded his mother in death a number of years ago. The husband, David Southern dying after they had moved to town.
Mrs. Southern fell and broke her hip in June and was taken to the St. Thomas hospital in Marshalltown where she was care d for until about two weeks ago, when she was brought to her home. She passed from this life, early Saturday morning, leaving to mourn her loss her daughters Mrs. Glen Tilton, Mrs. P. D. Ozmun, Mrs. Stark Atwood, Mrs. Fred Renfelt of Collins, Mrs. Frank Mulcahy of Colo and a son Harve of near Collins, also a host of neighbors and friends.
