O. N. EGELAND IS DEAD AT ROLAND

FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 2:00 O'CLOCK

Special to the Journal.
Roland, Sept. 9--O. N. Egeland, 65, native son of Story county, died at his home on a farm north of Roland late Tuesday afternoon, following an illness of two moths. About four weeks ago he was taken to a Des Moines hospital, where an operation developed the fact that he was suffering from a cancer. He was returned home two weeks ago.

His wife, two sons and one daughter were with him when the summons came. The children are Andrew Egeland of near Shipley, Otis Egeland at home and Mrs. Nels Stole of Garden City.

He also leaves one brother and four sisters, they being E. Egeland of Story City and Mrs. Mary Ericson and Mrs. Olena Onstein of Roland, Mrs. J. T. Anderson of Nevada and Mrs. Martin Barke of Spy Hill, Sask., Canada.

The funeral services will be held Friday. There will be a short prayer at the home at 1:30 after which the funeral party will go to Bergen church, Roland, where the service at 2:00 will be conducted by his pastor, Rev. M. O. Sumstad and interment will be in the local cemetery.

The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Egeland and was born on the old Egeland homestead a few miles south of Roland.

Osmund N. Egeland was born in Howard township, Story county, Iowa, September 25, 1865, and died at his home north of Roland, September 8, 1931, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 14 days.

He was confirmed in Bergen Lutheran church in Roland, in which he had always been a active member. He was married to Kate Jorgenson, March 16, 1898 and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive the father, they being Bessie A. Stone of Garden City, Andrew Egeland of near Shipley and Otis at home. One son, Obed, died in infancy.
