Mrs. Clark Chamber Died Today at Home in Collins

Special to the Journal:
Collins, April 20--Mrs. Mary E. Chambers, 58, wife of Clark Chambers, pioneer Collins merchant, died at her home here a 5 a.m. today.

She had been ill about ten days, having suffered a stroke of paralysis on April 10.

Funeral arrangements for this well known Collins woman are yet undetermined, pending word from relatives at a distance.

Born Mary E. Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Wood, at Rhodes April 2, 1881, she came with her parents to Collins as a girl, attended and graduated from the Collins schools and later lived in Des Moines for a time.

She was united in marriage to Clark Chambers May 21, 1902 and for 37 years her home had continued at Collins. Here their 5 sons and 3 daughters were born. One son, Donald, died in infancy.

The husband and seven children survive. The children Mrs. Irene Swenson and Miss Elizabeth Chambers of Los Angeles, Mrs. Marjorie Heintz of Collins; Lawrence Chambers of near Maxwell, and Gerald, Dwight and Eugene Chambers of Collins. She also leaves two grandchildren, Mary and Janace Heintz of Collins.

While greatly devoted to her home and family she also found time for various church, charitable and civic activities, being an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church and its auxiliary organizations, of the Order of Eastern Star and Collins Garden club and at the time of her passing was the the president of the Collins Cemetery society.

While the time and place of the funeral and burial are yet unannounced the services will be in charge of her pastor Rev. Ida I. Roberts and burial will be in Collins.
