Roland Interment For Mrs. Abel Tweedt; Former Resident

ROLAND - Funeral services for Mrs. Abel J. Tweedt of Pasadena, California were held at the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland on Thursday afternoon, September 20, with Rev. Allen E. Nelson officiating.

A short prayer service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otis B. Anderson preceded the church service, prayer by Rev. Nelson and song by ladies quartette, "Just As I Am."

At the church service Otto Hanson sang "Den Store Vide Flok", Pastor Nelson used the fourth verse of the 23rd Psalm as his text in the sermon.

"Beautiful Savior" was sung. The ladies quartette sang "Saved By Grace." Mrs. Otto Hanson served as organist and accompanied all vocal numbers. The ladies quartette included Mesdames Rudolph Risdal, Cyrus Christian, Otis Twedt, and Julius Christian. A large number of gifts were presented to various memorials in honor of Mrs. Tweedt. Mrs. A. R. rickson and Mrs. C. C. Helvig cared for the flowers.

Casket bearers included Tollef Dueland of Nevada, Lawrence Lein of Ankeny, Orlin Lein of Kelley, Minard Lein of Graettinger and J. O. Twedt and Oscar E. Twedt of Roland. Interment at the Roland Cemetery.

Obituary

Jane Olene Wicks was born on February 1, 1878 in Story County, Iowa, and passed away September 16, 1956 at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 16 days. She was the daughter of Haldor and Helga Vika (Wicks). She was baptized and confirmed in the Fjeldberg church near Huxley, Iowa. Her parents and four sisters and two brothers preceeded her in death. One sister survives, Mrs. Alice Richardson, now residing at the Sunset Home in Story City.

She was united in marriage to Abel J. Tweedt on October 22, 1897 Mr. Tweedt passed away on June 9th, 1949. One daughter, Sarah (Mrs. George W. Swanson) of Estherville, Iowa, passed away on November 1, 1954. Surviving are Carrie James, Ella Melcher, Burney, Anna Mae Arrasmith, Haldo, Alpha Andersin, Cinstance O'Connell, Jomina Johnson and Everett; also 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Tweedt has been in failing health in later years. Pneumonia developed following surgery and she passed away at the Huntington Memorial Hospital at Pasadena, California and was brought back to Roland for interment.
