OBITUARY

E. C. Mulnix

Colo people were shocked and grieved on Memorial day to learn of the unexpected death of Mr. Mulnix at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown. Mr. Mulnix was a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and a true friend. Colo friends extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing ones. From the Marshalltown Times-Republican we clip the following

"With his head bowed in prayer while Chaplain H. O. Pratt, of the soldiers' home, was giving the invocation at the Memorial day exercises at the home at 2:45 Thursday afternoon, Edward C. Mulnix, aged 71, a member of the home from Colo, toppled from his chair, dead of heart disease. Overexertion due to his participation in the parade is declared to have been the cause of the heart seizure.

Mulnix had taken part in the parade, altho he was subject to heart disease. It is presumed that exertion was too much for him and, coupled with the excitement, caused his death.

Mulnix was a native of DuPage county, Illinois, where he was born Oct. 7, 1846. He enlisted in Company K, Thirty-six Illinois infantry at Wayne, Ill., Feb. 26, 1864, and was discharged Oct. 8, 1865, at New Orleans. He entered the home Aug. 5, 1914.

In addition to his widow, Mrs. Eliza P. Mulnix, who is a member of the home, Mr. Mulnix is survived by one son and three daughters. They are L. A. Mulnix of Dolores, Colo.; Mrs. Hazel Hickman, of Nevada; Mrs. Hazel Hickman, of Nevada; Mrs. Edna Mason, of Golva, N. D., and Mrs. Bertha French of Colo.

Funeral services will be held from the assembly hall at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, burial following in the home cemetery.
