Funeral Services For Earnest Meeking

Zearing, Dec. 5--Funeral services for Earnest Meekins were held at the Brouhard Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 29 at 2 o'clock, Rev. R. E. Kerney was the pastor in charge. Pallbearers were Russell Deal, Wilton Reese, Chas. Irvine, Wm. Gray, Guy Clatterbuck and Henry Reynolds. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Fern Deal, Mrs. Eva Reese. Singing was by Mrs. Harry Martin and Mrs. Jerry Hankins. Interment was in the Zearing cemetery.

Earnest John Meekins, son of James and Mary Meekins was born, May 26, 1884, in Hardin county, Iowa, and died at Des Moines, Iowa, Nov. 23, 1942, at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 27 days. Earnest was one of a family of six children of whom an older brother died in infancy. Two older sisters, Edith and Ada and a younger sister, Fanny, have preceeded him in death. He is survived by one brother, Harry, the youngest of the family. Mr. Meekins has lived and worked around here and Des Moines practically his entire life. He was the marshall of Zearing one year.
