T. Pauline Sampson
January 4, 1924 - December 17, 2019T. Pauline Sampson, age 95, of Story City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Northridge Village in Ames.
Thelma Pauline Sampson was born on January 4, 1924 on a farm in rural Hamilton County, Iowa. She was one of seven children born to Levi and Stella (Kalvig) Thompson.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church rural Radcliffe, Iowa.
Pauline received her education by attending country school and graduated from Roland High School in 1941.
She moved to Ames with her parents in the Fall of 1941.
On June 12, 1943, Pauline was united in marriage to Milo Sampson in Baltimore, Maryland while Milo was in the service. She came back to Ames and worked at Colligate Manufacturing helping to supply raincoats and ponchos and then worked at the Ordinance Plant in Ankeny inspecting shell casings for the war effort. Pauline spent the last 26 years of her working life at the D.O.T. in Ames. She retired in 1980.
Pauline and “Mike” enjoyed dancing, bowling, golfing and playing cards.
Pauline was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City and loved the many friends she had there. She had been a member of the Elks, Moose, and League member at Homewood Golf Coarse where she also participated in a traveling golf league “The Golden Girls”.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include her sisters Dorothy Lenning of Iowa Falls, Jeanette Prehm of Eagle Groove and brother Harold “Sonny” Thompson of Buffalo Lake, MN; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Milo, two sisters Leone Kuhlman and Ethel Kingkade and a brother Harlan Thompson.
