Funeral Services Held Saturday For Mrs. J. W. Bloomfield
Minnie Etta Belcher Bloomfield was born March 17, 1876, the daughter of John and Mary Belcher of Collins, Iowa.
Minnie Etta grew up on a farm and attended school at Collins, Iowa. On Jan. 13, 1894 she was united in marriage to John W. Bloomfield at Nevada, Iowa.
John and Minnie Bloomfield made their home near the towns of Maxwell and Collins, Iowa, for a number of years. While farming near Maxwell five children were born to this union. Four daughters, Eva, Mrs. Eva Beal of Maxwell, Effie, Mrs. Effie Whitaker of Maxwell, Fern, Mrs. Fern Spurlock of Kansas City, Mo., and Vivian, Mrs. Vivian Angle, of Ames, Iowa, and one son, Chancy Ward, who died in infancy.
In 1919 the family moved to Ames, Iowa where they resided for 16 years.
In 1936 the Bloomfields moved back to Maxwell and finally made their home in Nevada where Mrs. Bloomfield resided until she died Aug. 31, at 12:30 a. m. at the Story County Hospital of a heart condition, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Minnie Etta Bloomfield was a member of the Collins Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, John, her four daughters, one sister, Mrs. Effie Cobb of San Leandro, Calif., seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and many many friends.
Mrs. Bloomfield had been an invalid and was confined to her bed and wheel chair for the last several years, but bore her burden without complaint.
Funeral Services
Funeral services for Mrs. John W. Bloomfield were held at the Ryan Funeral Home, Saturday, Sept. 2 at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. Robert Link officiating.
Mrs. Alice Goodin sang two songs, "In the Garden" and "There Will be No Tears in Paradise." She was accompanied by Miss Beeula Settle on the organ.
Casket bearers were Louis Bond, William Booher, Albert Hill, George Konec, Reis Prati and Clarence Stark.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Collins, Iowa.
