Funeral Services for George B. Raimer Held at Albert Lea

Nevada people at Albert Lea on Wednesday of last week attend the funeral services of the late George B. Raimer, 72, who died at his home there April 3, were his brother, Ed Raimer; his sister, Mrs. Leland Bates and husband; George Taylor and Mrs. E. B. Ayers, the latter a father and sister of Mrs. Raimer.

George B. Raimer was born at Bluffington, Ohio January 9, 1866 and departed this life on April 3, 1938, being at the time of his death 72 years, two months and 25 days of age. He died very suddenly of heart trouble.

At the age of one year he with his parents and brothers and sisters, moved to Story county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In early manhood, he united with the Presbyterian church near Nevada, Iowa.

On December 27, 1899, he was united in marriage to Vinnie Ellen Taylor at Nevada. To this union was born six children, five of whom, with his loving wife, are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father. They are: Rollie E. and Ralph E. of Albert Lea, Mrs. E. M. Thompson and Max G. of Freeborn and Mrs. W. R. Wick of Albert Lea. One daughter, Beulah, passed away at the age of three months.

He leaves two brothers and one sister; Ed Raimer and Mrs. Leland Bates of Nevada and John Raimer of Hayward, Minn. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

In 1911 he with his family moved to Hartland, Minn., where he was engaged in farming until the spring of 1929 when he moved to Albert Lea. Since that time he has been employed at the Wilson Packing company where he rendered his services faithfully to the last and where he was well known.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, April 6 from the home at two o'clock and at two-thirty from Bomerups Funeral home on West Clark st. with burial at Lakewood cemetery. Dr. Robert L. King officiated.

Nephews acted as pallbearers. They were Carl Raimer, Truman Dunahoo, Will W. and Lester H. Taylor, E. L. and M. R. McColley.

Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were his brother, Ed Raimer, sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bates, Mr. George M. Taylor and Mrs. E. B. Ayers, all of Nevada, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Taylor, Lester Taylor, Mrs. Joe Bruner and Mrs. Arnold Peterson, all of St. James, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Evans of Mason City and Mr. Walter Peterson of Minneapolis.
