Obituary of Mrs. Trites Story County Pioneer

Mrs. Sarah Trites, 89, who died at Marshalltown on Decoration day was one of the pioneers of this neighborhood, coming to the county in 1858, and living here continuously since.

Sarah Malinda McCamy was born in Licking county, Ohio October 21, 1837 and passed away at Marshalltown May 30, 1927 at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 9 days.

At the age of ten years she moved with her parents, from Ohio to Indiana where she grew to womanhood.

IN 1858 she came to Story county, where she resided until her death.

November 11, 1860 she was united in marriage to Henry Trites. To this union were born three daughters, Rachel Belle, Mary Louie and Emma Elizabeth.

Her husband, Henry Trites and two daughter, Mary Louie Hemping and Emma Elizabeth Trites preceded her in death leaving one daughter, Mrs. W. S. Hemping of Colo, one sister Rose Cook of Nevada and one brother of Ogden, Utah, five grandsons, one granddaughter, and nine great grandchildren as well as a host of friends to mourn her passing.

She has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for a number of years and was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted.

She has long been affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star, being a charter members of the Colo chapter.

In the passing of Mrs. Trites, Story county has long one of her old settlers.
