Funeral Services For Mrs. Tetweiler

The funeral services for Mrs. Henry Tetweiler* were held at the Bishop Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, the sermon being preached by Rev. Wackerbarth of the Evangelical church, of which she was a member. Three of the daughters, Mrs. Saunders of Ames, Mrs. Arnett of South Dakota and Mrs. Foote of Minneapolis were able to be here for the services. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband, a Civil War veteran, who passed away about two years ago.

The following obituary was read during the service:

Mrs. Henry Tetweiler nee Robinson was born in Indiana September 15, 1848 and died in Nevada, Iowa, April 4, 1927 having reached the age of 79 years, 6 months and 20 days.

She came with her parents to Iowa in 1853, settling in Jasper county. After one year they moved to Story county living on a farm southeast of Nevada. At this time Nevada was just in her beginning, having only a few buildings and the county was sparsely settled.

On November 1, 1866 she was united in marriage to Henry Tetweiler to which union five children were born: Erwin H. of Oregon; Marguerite Saunders, Ames, Iowa; Hattie Arnett of South Dakota and Lula Ingram and May Foote of Minneapolis.

Mr. and Mrs. Tetweiler lived in Nevada the greater portion of their lives. A few years were spent at the Iowa Soldiers home at Marshalltown but the later years were spent here in Nevada in their home. Mr. Tetweiler passed away about two years ago, after a long period of illness. Grandma Tetweiler was unable to stand the strain of caring for him during his last illness, breaking down and was confined to her bed at the time of his death and funeral. Since that time her strength has been waning, and she suffered from severe falls. Through all of her trials and suffering she was very genial and cheerful. Her faith inn God helped her to overcome, and made her a blessing to those who came into contact with her.

Mr. and Mrs. Tetweiler were members of the Friends church and two years ago transferred their membership to the Evangelical church. Sickness prevented Grandma from attending services but she was interested and concerned about the work of the church.

The end of her suffering came at 1:35 Monday morning and she went to be with her Lord.

Those who mourn her loss beside the five children are a sister, Mrs. Dave McTee* of Viola, Iowa, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Many friends will miss her in the community.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The deceased was Laura Attalissa/Atlissa Robison (not Robinson as stated) who married Henry Tetwiler (not Tetweiler as stated) on 1 November 1866 in Story County. Her sister was Harriet Louise Robison who married William David McAtee (not Dave McTee as stated) on 26 January 1876 in Story County, Iowa.
