Last week we referred to the fact that diphtheria was in the family of Mr. Spencer, of Richland township, and to the death of a son. We now have to record more deaths. -- Up to this time his three sons have died --all he had-- the oldest daughter is recovering, and a niece visiting there from Illinois is now down with the disease. The township is doing all they can to assist the family, and will aid them as much as possible and as long as it may be necessary. The aim now is to prevent the spread of the disease and everything points to a success.

Note: William Spencer age 12 yr. 3 mo. was the first to die on 9/11/1883. Charles Spencer age 6 yr., 5 mo., 9 dy. died on 9/19/1883. Elbert age 10 yr, 11 mo., 2 days died on 9/23/1883. This information comes from the one gravestone for the three boys at Pleasant Grove cemetery. This information is also listed for Elbert's brother Charles.
