Martha Sime, 76, Passes Away Sunday Morning

Funeral rites for Miss Martha Simes, 76 year-old maiden lady who has lived in the vicinity of Nevada for many years and who passed away at the Story County home Sunday morning at 7 o'clock will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., at the Morfoot Funeral home.

The services will be in charge of Dr. J. O. Simon, assisted by Elder A. L. Miller of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

Miss Sime was born February 22, 1857, in Shelby, Illinois and came with her parents to Hardin county, Iowa, as a girl. Later she lived with her brother Thomas Sime on a farm just in the south edge of Nevada, part of which became the site of the Iowa sanitarium.

While she had been an invalid confined to a wheel chair for many years, she had been failing definitely for the past nine months and early in the week caught a cold which she was unable to throw off.

Nieces and nephews from Hardin county were called here Saturday and were with her throughout the evening previous to her passing.

Miss Sime was a sister of Mrs. Jennie Ringheim, the latter being the widow of the late I. A. Ringheim, pioneer Nevada merchant.

As a girl she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Roland and continued in that faith for many years, but after becoming confined to the Iowa sanitarium accepted the Seventhday Adventist faith.

She leaves besides her one sister, Mrs. Ringheim, of Los Angeles, California, now in her ninety-third year, several nieces and nephews in California and a number among the Lee and Sime families in the Garden City neighborhood in Hardin county.

Miss Sime was a kindly and lovable woman accepting the cruel fate which kept he an invalid for so many years of her life with good grace, and will be most kindly remembered by many friends in and around Nevada.

Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery following the services here Tuesday afternoon.
