Funeral Rites Held at Zearing for Henry A. Cerka
Zearing, Oct. 12--Funeral rites for Henry A. Cerka, 68, who died at the Ellsworth hospital in Iowa Falls, September 30, were held at the Evangelical church here October 3, in charge of Rev. R. E. Kerney, assisted by Rev. Walter Cerka of Ackley. Mrs. Orpha Hankins, Mrs. Myrtle Martin, Gilbert Womeldorff and Glenn McBride furnished the songs and Mrs. H. D. Hoffman at the piano.
The pall bearers were Chas. Kleespie, Manley Dakins, I. S. Madison, C. E. Norman, Asa Barnard and Chas. Barnnard. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Manley Dakins, Mrs. Chas. Barnard and Mrs. John Tisdale. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.
Henry A. Cerka, son of Williams and Fredrika Cerka, was born on Feb. 2, 1875 at Nevada. He grew to manhood in the Colo community. He had been in failing health for several years, and everything that medical aid could do for him was tried, and he passed away on Sept. 30, 1943, at the hospital in Iowa Falls, at the age 68 years, 7 months and 28 days.
He was united in marriage to Miss Lulu Edith Wickham, Dec. 25, 1904. To this union were born Ward, who passed away Oct. 20, 1918, Delos; Goldie, now Mrs. Arthur Turner of Zearing, and Owen, who is in army service and stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.
Besides his wife and children, he leaves two brothers, Frank and Ben of Zearing, and a sister, Mrs. Esther Ballinger, also of Zearing, and three grandchildren.
Mr. Cerka was converted in 1903 and united with the Zearing Evangelical church, remaining faithful to all activities of the church. He has served many years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the church. He was appreciated as a friend and neighbor as well as in the home.

Owen Cerka of Fort Lewis, Wash.; Mrs. George Gaunt and sons of Waverly; Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Jackson and daughters of Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. Will Lyons, Eddie Greiner of St. Anthony; Helen Turner of Cedar Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Will Schuler, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Schuler, Mr. and Mrs. Emory Rogers, all of Colo, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stenerson of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Theron Adams of Ames, Miss Anna Wickham of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Selmer Good and family of Union, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Teig of Roland, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Gerke of State Center, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cerka of Waterloo, Rev. and Mrs. Walter Cerka and family of Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Carson Convoy of Hubbard and possibly others.
