Sudden Death of Longtime Resident of Story County
Special to the Journal.
Kelley, Oct. 12--Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hutchinson, 84, died suddenly of a heart attack at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames Saturday evening at 8 p. m.She has been making her home in Kelley with her daughter, Mrs. Edith Zimmerman, but went the latter part of the week to visit her son, Harry Hutchinson and wife of near Ames. They were on their way to Ames and when Mrs. Hutchinson became ill. She had been feeling real well all evening and was rushed to a doctor's office, then to the hospital where she lived but a short time.
She was born in Ohio, March 4, 1858 and came to Iowa when 10 years olf and was a resident of Story county all her life, but for 25 years spent in South Dakota. She was a member of the M. E. church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Duckworth Funeral home, the Rev. A. H. Barker in charge. Burial in the Ontario cemetery.
Surviving are three sons, Harry Hutchinson of Ames, twin sons, Leo S. Hutchinson of Lake Andes, S. D., and Leo J. of Waterloo, Ia. Two daughters Mrs. Edith Zimmerman of Kelley and Mrs. Mable Allerton of St. Paul, Minnesota. Mr. Hutchinson preceeded his wife in death Sept. 4, 1930. Also one son and one daughter. Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
